No more swelling in the inguinal area after inguinal hernia repair as the abdominal fat and organs are not "leaking" out through the inguinal ring. Quiet recovery from isoflurane gas anaesthesia. Surgery took around 60 minutes.

3 horizontal mattress sutures close the ventral midline skin incision.  No subcuticular sutures
were placed as these sometimes irritate the
dog as the sutures don't dissolve till around
28 days later.

 Absorbable 3/0 sutures, interrupted sutures closed the inguinal ring, leaving a gap for the pudendal blood vessels and nerve which exit from the abdomen. A ventral midline skin incision gives excellent exposure after separating the mammary tissues from the abdominal muscles.

The forefinger pushed the hernia sac contents into the abdomen. In the left inguinal hernia, the sac was more evident and cut off after pushing the contents back into the abdomen. Do not incise/stitch the pudendal artery and vein. In this case, the pulsating artery was evident on the right hernia.
