Sometimes, the senior canine serves as a mentor to do the toilet-train the new puppy. However, the owner still needs to confine the puppy to a small area, nearer to the toilet location so that the puppy can be trained by the senior dog. In this case, on the first day, the puppy was peeing and pooping everywhere in the apartment. On day 2, she knows where to go to the toilet.

I know this Border collie was lovingly cared for by the home-breeder in his house. Most likely she would have gone to the grass as the home breeder has a garden. She could adapt to apartment living within 2 days and went to the bathroom as the older Sheltie. This made life much easier for the owner.
